STELLA SHUMILA 1928 - 2011 God has come down to take our angel Stella on October 24, 2011, from the Grace Hospital to join Peter, the love of her life and husband for 58 years. They are now reunited in peace by the grace of God after just a few short months apart. Despite her brave battle with cancer, Stella would take care of her family and friends ahead of herself. She would not relinquish to her illness while her husband needed her strength of mind and not until she completed all she wanted in her life on this earth. Left to cherish and celebrate her life is her daughter Pamela, son-in-law Mike, family and friends. She truly is an angel to all the lives she touched as a daughter, a sister, a friend, a teacher, a wife, a mother, an aunt and a step-grandmother. She extended her friendship, love and compassion to many people and animals. She always expressed the importance of education, forgiveness, independence, respect and the most important gift you can give, the gift of your time. Stella was a teacher in Fisher Branch, Brokenhead, Winnipeg and Beausejour. Her students continue to have fond memories of their school days with her. Whenever they saw her, they always walked over to her with a big smile saying, Hello Mrs. Shumila! . Stella loved jokes. She loved to hear jokes. She loved to tell jokes. She loved to catch friends and strangers off guard with her jokes. Her perseverance and positive attitude never wavered. To quote Stella in her final days, Don't be sad. Everything I want is done to the last detail. A private family service has taken place. Thank you to her Doctors, Nurses, and Care Workers. There were many. We appreciate your kindness, patience and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mom's memory to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation Inc., 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, Telephone: 1-877-407-2223. We love you Mom!
