Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY MARGARET SWAN 1913 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Margaret Swan. She died peacefully at the Charleswood Care Centre on Friday, October 28, 2011. Our mom was born in Miniota, Manitoba, in 1913. Together she and Dad operated the home farm for 15 years before moving into Elkhorn, where they took over the dairy business. Mom was much involved in the bottling of the milk. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1966, where Mom was employed at Eaton's on the fashion floor, which she dearly loved. Mom was predeceased by her husband, Elmer, in 1998; her parents, Ned and Margaret Lamb; her brother, Ted; sister, Gladys; and her son-in-law Ron Pollard. She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Ray (Mary Ann) Swan; four daughters, Eileen (Stan) Sokalski, Donna Pollard, Norma (John) Keller, Karen Deda; nine grandchildren, Corinne, Brad, Sandy, Sheri, Randy, Stephen, Mark, Troy and Tara; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mom will be remembered by her loving family. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She loved to play bridge, knit, garden, sew, sing, listen to music and especially piano playing. Mom will always be remembered for her unselfish loving nature. Our family was held together by her unfailing love. Just as she lived with her heart, we will carry her in our hearts forever. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at the Elkhorn Cemetery in the summer. The family wish to thank the staff at the Charleswood Care Centre for their kindness and good care given to Mom during the past two years. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Grace Hospital, or the Charleswood Care Centre, 5501 Roblin Blvd. Spread your wings with the angels, dear Mom. Heaven will love your caring and unselfish nature. You'll be able to see Dad and all your old friends again. Our time together was very special and we'll dearly miss you. -Your loving family For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.mb.ca 885-9715
