LEONARDO RUSSO June 13, 1932 October 28, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and nonno, Leonardo Russo on Friday, October 28, 2011, in his family home surrounded by his wife and family at the age of 79. He was predeceased by his parents, Salvatore and Giuseppa Russo, and brothers Pietro Russo and Leonardo Mormina. His memory will be forever cherished by his wife of 60 years, Vittoria; children Salvatore (Rose), Giuseppa (Nunzio) Grado, Francesca (Bob) Farrell, and Pasquale; siblings Joe and Frank; eleven grandchildren, Vikki (Manny), Elena (Billy), Ryan, Holly, Betti (Giovanni), Joe, Vicky, Robert, Christopher, Leonardo and Vittoria (Jon); five great-grandchildren, Salvatore, Giorgio, Ava, Samuel, and Lia; extended family members, Mary Danel, and Lucia Di Girolamo; along with nieces and nephews, (especially Nina Russo De Pau), and other relatives and friends. Leonardo was born on June 13, 1932, in Montallegro, Sicily. Dad immigrated to Canada with his family in 1966 to offer his children a better life. He worked at the C.N.R. for over twenty years, and was also a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Fort Rouge Branch 97. Some of Dad's passions were bingo, fishing, sports (especially cheering for the Blue Bombers), and tending his beloved garden, growing the largest zucchini. Our dad's greatest attributes were his undying love for his family, and he was cherished in return. Dad was always there with outreached hands, ready and willing to drop everything for his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, 249 Arnold Avenue (off Osborne Street). Viewing one half hour prior to service. Entombment to follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main St. If friends wish, in lieu of flowers donations may be made in Leo's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. VOYAGE 668-3151
