PHYLLIS MAUD COOKE (nee HAMPSON) Peacefully on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at Holy Family Nursing Home, Phyllis Cooke aged 88 years, passed away. She is survived by her son Gordon (Sandra) and granddaughter, Jaden, and son Clifford. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Henry in 1986; her 10-26parents, Emma and Walter Hampson; sister, Mary; and brother, Joey and Wilfred. Phyllis was born on May 28, 1923, in Winnipeg, MB. She married Henry Cooke on September 9, 1950, in Winnipeg. She attended Luxton Elementary School and St. John's High School during the late 1930s, early 1940s. Phyllis worked first at Weston Bakery from 1942 to 1943 and her last job was with Lutheran Life, starting in 1976, until her retirement in 1988. In her retirement she was a participant in the senior's swimming and bowling leagues, and was a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels. Phyllis was a big supporter of the Winnipeg Humane Society; so in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to this charity. The family would like to thank the Seven Oaks Hospital Geriatric Rehab staff, the Maples Care Home and the Holy Family Nursing Home, St. Francis Ward staff. Interment will be held on Thursday, November 3 at 3:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street, West. St. Paul, Manitoba.
