JOAN ELIZABETH SUTHERLAND (nee HEWITT) It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our mother Joan Elizabeth Sutherland on October 30, 2011, with her daughter at her side. Joan was predeceased by her husband Bill; parents, Gertrude and Jack; and sister Mary. She will be deeply missed by her six children, Shaune, Kelly, Tracy, Tara, Billy, Clare and her best friend Maggie; sister Patsy and many nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Toronto, the youngest of Jack and Gertrude. Mom moved to Winnipeg as a child and attended St. Ignatius School and St. Mary's Academy. She met the love of her life Bill and married in June of 1956. Mom enjoyed cooking, gardening and was a sports enthusiast. She dedicated her life to raising her six children. In later life, her passions were her cottage, fishing and her dogs. A funeral mass will take place on Friday, November 4, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, corner of Roblin and Grant Avenue at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Charles Cemetery. Our family would like to thank care givers, Cindy and Joyce for their kindness in taking care of Mom. We would also like to thank Brian P. for his caring and friendship to Mom. We would also like to thank Jana, Kathy and Leslie Lee for their gentle handling of Mom in her time of need. In addition a heartfelt thanks to Stella and Dr. J.R.A.
