Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHISAO (GEORGE) KONDO October 1, 1917 October 29, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hisao (George) Kondo on October 29, 2011 after a lengthy illness. George was born in Abbotsford, BC into a family of 10 children. He was predeceased by his daughter, Esther Yoshino in 1998, his mother, Sute and father, Shosaku, six brothers and two sisters. George was a remarkable man and endured his physical condition without complaint and lived and enjoyed life to its fullest each day. He was a loving husband to his wife, Kinue (Kay) for 69 years; an exceptional father to his daughters, Judy Shigeta (John), Shirley Teranishi (Gord) and Brenda Mark (Howie); proud grandfather to nine children; great- grandfather to 10 children and uncle to numerous nephews and nieces. George was a dedicated employee at Ancast Foundry for almost 40 years and never missed a day of work. Since its inception, George was also very active with the Manitoba Buddhist Temple serving in many executive capacities including the President in 1976. He was honoured for his invaluable contributions to the Temple in 2009. Throughout most of his life, George was physically active and regularly walked, swam, and bowled. He was known in the neigh-bourhood as the friendly man who walked daily with his dog, Smokey. He especially loved music and sang in the Japanese Chidori-kai choir. He thoroughly enjoyed being the current President of a senior's group, Hoyukai and organized their recreational activities until his illness. George was known to all as an extremely warm, kind, caring and gentle person with a great sense of humour. He was always so positive and only saw the good in people. George was totally devoted to and proud of his family and his family adored him. He loved children and spent many hours playing with and creating games for his daughters and grand-children. We will all miss him dearly and forever cherish his memory in our hearts. A celebration of his life will be held at the Manitoba Buddhist Temple, 39 Tecumseh Street on Saturday, November 5 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ulrich officiating. The family would like to especially thank the extraordinary staff on Cornish 2 at the Misericordia Health Centre Interim Care, WRHA Palliative Care Program, and WRHA Home Care for their compassion and kindness.
