BETTY CHALMERS (née BUNN) July 20, 1934 - October 30, 2011 Betty Emily Chalmers (née Bunn), beloved wife, mother and, grandmother passed away at Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg, MB on October 30, 2011 at the age of 77 years. Betty was born on July 20, 1934 on the Birdtail Sioux First Nation, Manitoba, to her parents, Peter and Florence (née Duncan) Bunn. Betty was orphaned as a young child and attended Birtle Residential School, until she graduated in 1953. Following graduation, Betty entered nursing school in Winnipeg in 1954. It was during these years that she met her husband, William James Chalmers whom she married on September 28, 1957. As Bill was with the Canadian forces, they were posted to locations across Canada; Nanaimo, CFB Shilo, Winnipeg and to Germany. Betty is survived by her devoted and loving children, William (Gail) Chalmers, Kenneth (Edith) Chalmers, Robert (Jo-Ann) Chalmers, Margaret (Bruce) Ducharme, Angela (Simon) Doyle, Edward (Lana) Chalmers, Stuart (Mia) Chalmers, Gloria (Dale) Rach and godson Quentin Chalmers. She is also survived by her 27 beautiful grandchildren and two brothers Hector (Darlene) Bunn and Patrick (Janet) Bunn. Betty was predeceased by her husband William, son Derek and her beloved Aunts Alice Wasteste and Frances Mazawasicuna. A funeral service to honour Betty's life will be held at Central United Church, 327-8th Street on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Laird Russell-Yearwood officiating. Cremation will follow and a private family interment will take place at a later date.
