MICHAEL DANIEL STAROSILEC February 11, 1941 - October 29, 2011 After a short battle with cancer, Michael passed away suddenly at the Grace Hospital. Born and raised in Winnipeg, he joined the US Army at a young age and served as an MP for 18 months in Korea and lastly at Fort Knox, Kentucky. After returning home and marrying the love of his life, he joined the Winnipeg Police Department serving as a constable for 29 and a half years. In his retirement Michael enjoyed fishing at Willard Lake, golfing with friends and meeting his friends at Rady Centre Gym most mornings. He also enjoyed going away to Texas during the winter months. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Michael was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Mary. Surviving him are his beloved wife Linda (Dickson); loving sons Shawn (Susan) and Rob (Glenda); brother Ron (Leslie) with whom he had a special bond; sisters, Janice (Larry) Hodkinson and Allison Br lé; uncle John (Elaine) Williams, and brother-in-law Jim (Heather) Dickson. Also missing him are his adoring grandchildren Alyssa, Brett and Megan Starosilec and stepgrandson Darrell Wintink. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Home Care services, in particular Patti and Za, and St. Boniface Hospital CancerCare doctors and nurses. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd., Winnipeg, on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and Winnipeg Humane Society.
