EVA GERTRUDE DRAM January 15, 1936 - October 20, 2011 Peacefully, on Thursday, October 20, 2011, Eva Gertrude Dram (nee McIvor) passed away at the age of 75 years. Mom was born in Cross Lake, MB on January 15, 1936 to Thomas and Mabel McIvor. She spent her early life in Cross lake and on the trapline at Walker Lake. She grew up with the values of hard work, faith in God and being kind to others. On her 18th birthday she moved to The Pas to work in the St. Anthony's Hospital. She was very proud of her Métis heritage even though she was entitled to Treaty Status she believed that remaining Métis honoured both her mother and father. On May 22, 1962 she married the love of her life, Carl, and they set up camp in Wabowden. Mom and Dad celebrated 49 years of marriage and their commitment to each other never waivered. Dad's dedication to Mom during her illness was a remarkable example of the love they had for each other. Education was very important to our mother as she only went up to grade 3. Mom worked at the Post Office and then had the opportunity to go to school to become a Community Health Worker. During this time she was a caregiver to her mother-in-law, Josephine Dram, her father, Thomas McIvor and her mother, Mabel McIvor. Mom was a kind, compassionate and friendly lady who had friends everywhere. She loved children and was grandma to many. Family was very important, as was the community of Wabowden. She served on the School Committee for 25 plus years. She was willing to support different projects in the community and donated to everything. Eva leaves to mourn her loving husband of 49 years, Carl and their children; Elizabeth (Hilbert Mosiondz), Jacquie, Helen (Don Aikman), Carla (James Nabess), Jim (Marlene) and foster-daughter Dorothy Mader. She also leaves to mourn her grandchildren: Cynthia (Ken Jonasson), Quentin Mosiondz (Jolene), Carl Mulholland, Crystal (Ryan Osmond), Tyler Dram, Zachariah Nabess, Jessica Dram, CJ Dram and adopted granddaughter Nicole Fournier, great-grandchildren; Amy, Cody and Kendall Jonasson, Tristen and Corbin Mosiondz, Dylan Mulholland, Brayden and McKenna Osmond, sisters; Agnes McIvor, Jeannie Telfer (Wayne), Martha McLeod (Winston), brothers; Gerald McIvor (Christina), Tommy McIvor, brothers/sisters-in-law: Iona McIvor, Myrna Dram, John and Linda Dram, Barney and Joanne Dram She also leaves to mourn her beloved nieces and nephews along with their spouses and their children whom she considered her grandchildren. We would like to thank all of our family and friends for your support throughout Mom's illness. The gifts of your time, laughter and food were very precious to Mom. May God richly bless each one of you for your acts of kindness and caring. We would also like to thank Dr. Wong, Melissa and Eloisa at The Seven Oaks Hospital, Carissa Ewanyshyn at the Ostomy Clinic, Dr. Chaudrey, Louise Rawluk, Keri Gallagher and staff with the B.R.H.A. for the care they provided. A celebration of life took place at the Ke-Na-Now Centre in Wabowden on Tuesday, October 25, 2011. Pastor Abel Hall officiating. Anyone wishing to make a donation in Eva's memory may do so to the Wabowden Fire Ambulance Service towards the purchase of a power stretcher. Boardman/Northland Funeral Services in care of arrangements.
