JACK GATES Jack passed away October 31, 2011 at Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 91. He was born on June 12, 1920 at Milestone, Saskatchewan. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 64 years, Meda and his sons, Brian (Margot) and Rod (Nancy), and his daughter, Sheryl. He is adored by his grandchildren, Erin Gates, Luke Gates, Alan Gates, Tricia (Dan) Meaud and Mitch Huot. Jack is survived by his sister, Nora Vansdal and numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his parents, six brothers and four sisters. In 1942 Jack enlisted with the 27th A.A. Regiment Royal Canadian Army and served in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He worked at Parrish and Heimbecker Ltd. for 33 years. He started as a grain buyer at Aylesbury, SK, moved to Boissevain, MB in 1965, and later became the Superintendent for Saskatchewan and Manitoba in 1971. Jack was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Over the years he enjoyed golfing and playing cards, with Meda by his side. He was a kind, generous and loving person. In keeping with and obeying Dad's wishes there will be no formal service. A private family celebration of his life will take place at a later date. A special thanks is extended to all our friends and family whose frequent visits meant so much to Dad. He knew how much he was loved by all. Also, a special thanks to the wonderful staff at Deer Lodge Centre, Tower 4 for the care he received. Dad, you are now resting in peace and we as a family couldn't ask for anything more.
