KATHLEEN ANITA SILVERA May 23, 1923 - November 3, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing to heaven of Kay, our dear, wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Friend. Kay leaves to mourn four daughters: Donna (Van Horne) and husband Wayne, Vicki (Le Mere), Jannine (Le Mere) and husband Samuel and Monique (Madick) and husband Alan; 10 grandchildren: Paul, Laura, Christopher and Scott Van Horne; Nicole, Todd and Aviva Jones, and Aaron, Jordan and Saskia Madick, and 13 great-grandchildren. Kay loved and spoiled each and everyone of her special Grands. Also left to mourn Kay is her beloved brother Ted. Kay also had wonderful friends throughout her life including lifelong friends Alin and Frank (children Bob and Shirley, grandchildren Kayla and Brenden) who planted her gardens and helped her in so many ways over the years. Her good friend Tita was a wonderful support especially over these last months of her life. Kay's family wishes to thank all her friends for their love, help and support. Kay lived her life trying to help, and make happy, everyone she met. If you let Kay know you needed something, Kay would have it in your hand shortly. Kay spread love, joy and happiness throughout life. Kay lived all her life in Winnipeg first running her own business and then as a very successful real estate agent. After retiring, Kay focused on knitting, buying toys for her 23 grand and great-grandchildren and cooking for everyone. "God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around you and whispered, Come to me . With tearful eyes and heavy hearts We watched you pass away, And although we love you dearly We could not make you stay. A golden, beautiful heart stopped beating, Loving hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best!" In lieu of flowers, please contribute to a special fund for A Memorial in Kay's honour. The family wish to thank the wonderful staff at the Grace Hospice for care so amazing, loving and respectful. Kay will be buried at Chapel Lawn on Saturday morning, November 5. At Kay's wish, friends and family are invited to a special lunch to celebrate her life at Boston Pizza, 2517 Portage Ave. at 12:15 p.m.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • If this is the same Kay who lived on Valleyview Dr many many moons ago, she has a special place in my heart. She use to babysit me in elementary and I always had the most fun with her and the kids from the area. She would take me to Unicity mall when it was a mall for McDonalds and playing at the arcade there. She was amazing and kind and I always loved going there. I'm very sorry to her family to see she passed. I wish she had popped into my mind sooner. That's how amazing she was though, that even 20+ years later she is still crosses my mind and is in my heart as the coolest babysitter I ever had. My deepest condolences to her family. I wish I could have said these things to her myself. - Posted by: Meagan Peterson (Sheldrick) (Friend) on: Aug 28, 2019

  • I was so sorry to read about Kay's passing. I thought of her often over the years and will never forget her for caring about me and taking me in to her home when my family moved to Calgary when I was 16. She was truly one of a kind. - Posted by: Cathy West (Pears) (friend) on: Jan 09, 2012
