Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHYLLIS SUSAN SHENKAROW (nee STALL) It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Phyllis Shenkarow, who passed away peacefully on October 24, 2011,with her family by her side, at the age of 64. Phyllis will be deeply missed by her husband of 44 years,Marvin, their three children: Lori (Jeff), Michelle (Laurence), Morris (Rana) and her beloved nine grandchildren: Natasha, Gillian, Sydney, Sam, Tyler, Samantha, Abbie, Greer and Nathaniel. Phyllis was born on March 23, 1947 to the late Nathan and Gertrude Stall. She is predeceased by her brother, Morton and sister, Shelley. She is survived by her brother, Richard (Lisa) Stall. She will be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews. Phyllis grew up in the North End of Winnipeg on McAdam Avenue. She attended Luxton and St. John's schools. Along with her family, she spent many happy summers at Winnipeg Beach. Phyllis and Marvin married on July 11, 1967. Phyllis was a dedicated and devoted wife. Through the ups and downs of life, they always found their way together. Phyllis was, without question, the most devoted and loving mom. She had so much wisdom. She loved and inspired her children and served as an exceptional role model. Building relationships and friendships was her specialty. She was drawn to people of all ages and backgrounds. She cherished her lifelong friends, her children's friends, her friends from Bridge and those from her numerous volunteer ventures over the years. Phyllis had a unique ability to transcend generations. Everyone loved being around her. She was the nicest and most genuine person to all whom she encountered. She lit up every room she entered and will be missed by all who knew her. Becoming a Bubbie was, without a doubt, the highlight of her life. She shone in her role as Bubbie and had a direct hand in raising all nine of her grandchildren. Her family's most cherished memories involve winter vacations, time together at the lake, Shabbat dinners and holidays, eating her pies and pickles, taking family photographs, picking flowers and watching the loons. Funeral services were held at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue on Wednesday, October 26, 2011. Donations can be made in her honour to the Phyllis and Marvin Shenkarow fund at the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba or Manitoba CancerCare.
