MYRNA MITCHELL Myrna Mitchell (Mania Schultz) passed away peacefully after a short illness on Monday, October 24, 2011 at the age of 89. She was the loving wife of Myer for the past 69 years, mother of Faith and Bruce Cristall and Sharon and Rocky Pollack, a grandmother to Jason Cristall, Jennifer Cristall and Calvin Hagglov, Hart Pollack and Nancy Chappell Pollack, Lisa Pollack and Andy Furman and a great-grandmother to Aidan, Quinn, Zack, Mitchell, Shane, Talia and Noah. She is survived by all her siblings: Albert Schultz (Lorraine), Ruth Shenback, Sally Shuckett (Morley) and Alice Halprin (Edward). Myrna was born in Poland and arrived in Canada at the age of six. Unfortunately her mother passed away at a very young age and Myrna became the maternally caring older sister who was looked up to for direction and guidance, a very large task for a teenager. Myrna and Myer were married in 1942 and until the very end she was a very dedicated and devoted wife. The word selfless personifies Myrna. Family always came first, and when she was unable to give her husband and children the support and help she thought they needed, she would still ask What can I do for you? She was very proud of her daughters' accomplishments and would share her pride with others. Myrna was a wonderful pianist, loved music and theatre, was an avid tennis player and enjoyed her weekly bridge games. She spoke fondly about the years when she volunteered with the General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Rosh Pina Sisterhood and National Council of Jewish Women. She was a wonderful role model for her daughters. Myrna and Myer travelled everywhere together on business - to Paris, New York and all over Asia. Their retirement years were spent wintering in Palm Springs, California where their home was continuously open to family and friends. The times they spent there with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren were their favourites. Our family is so thankful for Marie Anne Cochon and her wonderful staff of caregivers. Myrna Mitchell was carried to rest by her grandsons Jason, Hart and Andy, her nephews Victor and Myron Schultz and family friend Larry Saifer. No matter how long one has a spouse or a parent, it is never long enough. We all love you and will miss you always.
