CATHERINE DICKSON (MOWAT) MCLACHLAN June 26, 1916 - November 3, 2011 On Thursday, November 3, 2011, mom passed away peacefully with family by her side. Catherine was predeceased by her parents Mary and James Sawers; three brothers and two sisters; also first husband Adam Mowat in 1991, and second husband Harold McLachlan in 1999. Left to cherish her memory are daughters Leona (Al), Christina (Allan), Ruth (Garry), Sylvia (Richard); son Douglas (Michelle); 12 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister Marguerite; sisters-in-law Ruth and Flossie; several nieces and nephews. Catherine was born in Davidson, SK, second oldest child of seven children. While living in Saskatchewan, after the loss of her mother, Catherine raised her brother and sisters. In the mid 1930s the family moved to Woodside where they farmed. While at Woodside mom met Adam Mowat, the love of her life, and they were married in 1944. Adam also farmed so mom continued in the role of homemaker, raising five children, where she milked cows, grew grain, planted a garden and baked bread. In later years they retired to Gladstone, enjoying the Seniors Drop In Centre. Mom joined the United Church group. After losing Dad, Mom married Harold in 1992. As Harold was ill of health, mom moved to Centennial Apartments in 1998 and Harold passed in 1999. In 2008 mom moved to Third Crossing Manor, enjoying the company of many, the music, afternoon entertainment and basking in the sunshine. Catherine will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 7, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gladstone United Church with Lynne Sanderson officiating. Final resting place will be at Evergreen Memorial Garden in Portage la Prairie, MB. Donations may be made to Gladstone Community Benefit Fund, Box 25, Gladstone, MB R0J 0T0.
