EDNA LOUISE IVEY (nee BOONE) 1924 - 2011 On Thursday, November 3, 2011 Edna Ivey passed away peacefully, at Boundary Trails Health Centre, after a lengthy period of illness. She was born near Grand Falls, NL in January 1924 and was married to the one true love of her life, William (Bill) Ivey for 60 years. She was predeceased by the two Bills in her life: her beloved husband in 2006 and eldest son, in 2010. She leaves to mourn her daughter-in-law, Bonnie of Chapleau, ON, her four children and their spouses: Christopher and Kathy of Ottawa, Michael and Amanda and great-granddaughter Kyndal of Calgary and Michael's first wife, Allisa and great-granddaughter, Tegan, also of Calgary, Danny and Jolene of Drayton Valley, Mary Lynn and Simon and great-granddaughters, Rose and Susanna of Devon, England; Edna's second son, Dr. Jeff Ivey and Elaine reside in Morden with their son, Tim and Dana, granddaughter, Jennifer and husband Ali live in Vancouver and grandson, Jeffrey Jr. lives in Winnipeg; Edna's third son, Clifford lives with his wife, Christine in Winnipeg. The core essence of Edna's life was family and friends. Her highly creative skills were directed in the area of providing love and comfort to them through knitting, cooking, baking and entertaining. Her home was always open and the kitchen full of good things. She will be remembered for her generous gifts of handknit mittens and baby clothes and her famous dream cookies, oat cakes and Newfie bread. Her creative skills in knitting also allowed her to have a long, successful and happy career in the commercial knitting industry in Winnipeg, which was also marked by many lifelong friendships. Unfortunately, her progressive blindness put a premature end to her career but the silver lining of that, was a long and rewarding retirement with family in Morden. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 350 7th St. in Morden. In lieu of flowers, family and friends are invited to make a donation in Edna's memory to either the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) or to Boundary Trails Health Centre Foundation.
