CHERYL BUREK (nee TURGEON) February 7,1959 - November 2, 2011 After a courageous battle with cancer, Cheryl Burek passed away at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Gimli , on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at the age of 52 years. Cheryl was born in Winnipeg and spent most of her life growing up in Transcona. She was the oldest of four children born to Gib and Diane Turgeon. Cheryl graduated from Murdoch MacKay High School in 1977. Cheryl had a 30 year career with the Royal Bank, most recently as a Senior Account manager. She loved what she did and made many friends along the way. One of Cheryl's favorite pastimes was golf. She golfed with her soul mate, Ray Burr as well as family, friends and colleagues. Cheryl and Ray made their annual golf trip to San Antonio. She loved golf so much that Cheryl and Ray made their home along the Sandy Hook Golf Course, where they planned to retire together. Cheryl leaves to cherish her memory her parents Gib and Diane; sister Lori Turgeon and her children Colin, Scott and Jessi; sister Jody (Prokipchuk) and John Moran and their children Candace and Dylan; brother Craig (Cristen); Ray's parents Norm and Edna and family, as well as uncles, aunts, cousins and her many friends who have been there for her. A celebration of Cheryl's life will take place on Monday, November 7, at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery) at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, P.O. Box 2248, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4A6, or to a charity of one's choice. • My Aunty Cheryl was one of the most caring, loving, joyful, wonderful person anyone could ever be lucky to have in their life. I miss her so much and I'd give anything to have her back for even just one more day. I know that she's making everyone smile and dance up there. We gained an angel, and a very beautiful one at that. I'll never forget her, of course it's almost impossible with her name tattooed on my back. I love and miss you Aunty Cheryl. Rest in Peace. - Posted by: Jessi Henderson (Niece) on: Jan 11, 2012

  • We are so sorry to hear of Cheryl's passing. She was a wonderful lady and we have many memories of time spent with her. She will be missed. Unfortunately we are out of the country and will not be able to attend her memorial service. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time. - Posted by: Maureen Burek (Family) on: Nov 05, 2011
