IRENE TAYLOR It is with great sadness that the family of Irene Taylor announces her passing on November 2, 2011, at the Douglas Campbell Lodge, in Portage la Prairie, at the age of 94 years. Left to mourn and forever cherish her memory is her loving and devoted husband of over 66 years, Don Taylor, and her loving children, Gary Taylor and Linda Taylor Gander, as well as extended family and friends. Irene was predeceased by her baby sister, Olga Evers, her parents, Hans and Annie Evers, and her loving son-in-law, Warren Gander. Irene began her life in Winnipeg. Her initial schooling was in private schools, until her family moved to Reaburn. After completing her schooling at Reaburn School, she secured employment with Eaton's in Winnipeg and worked there until her marriage to Don in 1944. Together, she and Don ran a successful farm operation for over 40 years. Subsequently, they spent 22 additional years assisting Gary in the farm operation. During those years, Irene raised her children, ran the household, cooked thousands of delicious meals, assisted in the farm work, and grew bountiful gardens. She was well known for her beautiful gardens and Green thumb . As well, Irene had a great passion for music and enjoyed fashion. She was very fond of animals, especially dogs. She frequently assisted in church and community activities. Irene attended church regularly at the Alliance and Baptist churches. In 2006, she and Don moved to Windsor Park Estates in Portage la Prairie, and then in June, 2011 to Douglas Campbell Lodge. As a wife, mother and friend, Irene was totally unselfish, generous, and kind, always giving unconditional love. She was dearly loved by her family. She possessed compassion, dignity, style, and grace, in all of life circumstances. Proverbs 31:10-31 could have been written for Irene. Her Christian faith was strong and evident by the life she lived. Because of that faith, Irene has now gone to her eternal heavenly home. Her memory will live on in those that were fortunate enough to know and love her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice. A special thanks to the amazing staff of DCL for the great care and love shown to Irene. A celebration of Irene's life will be held at Omega Funeral Home, 83 Royal Road S., Portage la Prairie, at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2011.
