ELFRIEDE BERGER 1916 - 2011 On November 7, 2011, at Donwood Manor Personal Care Home, Elfriede Leopoldine Berger (nee Geier) passed away peacefully at the age of 94. She was predeceased by her husband Hugo and adoptive mother Leopoldine Geier. She is survived by her son Will (Helga), and grandchildren Tonia, Conrad and David Berger. Elfriede was born on November 28, 1916 in Graz, Austria. She worked in the family gift shop from age 14 until her early 20s when she attended art school. Elfriede and Hugo met and married in Feldbach, Austria in 1941. Their only son, Wilhelm, was born in 1949. She became a talented sculptor with works displayed in Canada, Europe and the U.S.A. Elfriede actively worked on her art into her late 80s. It was her life's passion. She loved nature and animals and adopted many over the years. A memorial service will be held at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 11, 2011. Those who wish may make a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
