VICTOR (VIC) J. HOUDAYER It is with great sadness, after a very short battle with cancer, we announce the passing of Vic on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Pinawa Hospital at the age of 67 years. Left to forever cherish Vic's memory is his loving wife Mariann, of 47 years of marriage and beloved canine companion Ginny; his much loved children: Ray (Terri), grandchildren Jordain, Sydnee and Quincy; Theresa (Avrom); mom Jean Hryniuk; brothers George and family, and Shorty (Cynthia) and family. He was predeceased by his father Raymond; stepfather Ted Hryniuk and sister-in-law Anne. On April 25, 1944 Vic was born in Vancouver, BC. At the age of 17 he joined the Canadian Armed Forces. He married Mariann on December 14, 1963. During his 28 years of military life he saw many postings around Canada and Germany where he made many great friends. Upon Vic's retirement from the military, he obtained his 5th Class Power Engineers ticket that landed him a 12 year job for Shelter Canada as a Resident Manager at Fountain House Winnipeg. Vic completely retired in 2007 and made the move with Mariann to Pinawa. Vic loved boating, fishing and camping at Pioneer Bay in Pinawa. Tired of the bitter cold, he and Mariann became Snow Birds and spent three great winters in Magic Valley Park, Weslaco, Texas where, again they made many great friends. In compliance with Vic's wishes there will be no formal Funeral Service. We would like to thank the staff and doctors of GD4 at Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg for all they did for Vic. A very special thank you is extended to Dr. Hanna, Dr. Van Gend and the super nurses at Pinawa Hospital for making Vic's final days comfortable. Flowers are gratefully declined. A donation in Vic's name may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. "Kiss on the nose daddy" Love Ginny
