BRENDA M. PALZ (nee TAYLOR) With acceptance and grace, Brenda Mary Palz died peacefully, at home, on November 9, 2011, in the loving care of her family. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 54 years, Bernie; daughters Barbara, Susan (Garth) and Sharon; her beloved grandson David; brother, Dr. Ross Taylor (Linda); brother-in-law Frank Palz (Margaret), nieces and nephews: Andrea, Tanis (Jubal), David, Craig (Lori), Kendall (Roger); and great-nieces and nephews: Caleb, Hanna, Brianne, Taylor, Everett and Sydney. Brenda was born April 30, 1937 to Norah and Eli Taylor and grew up in Elmwood. In her early teens she met the boy across the street who would become her husband. Brenda trained as a paediatric nurse but marriage and a family redirected her energy as she devoted herself to providing a good home for Bernie and raising their three girls along with the family dogs. In the early 1970s, motivated again by her love of children, Brenda worked as a Librarian at Radisson Elementary School where, through books, she opened the world to many children. After 15 years, she retired and went to work part time at the Anglican Diocese of Rupert's Land in Archives helping people trace their ancestry. Brenda was an avid reader, enjoying both novels and more intellectual works. Brenda played piano, curled and sewed. Her knitted baby clothes were works of art as were her petit-point and needlework pictures. Mum's faith, and her community at Gordon King Memorial United Church, sustained her throughout life's ups and downs. Brenda touched the lives of many with her quiet, unassuming nature, and her care for others before self. She was a loving mother, a supportive wife and a doting Nan and was the hub' of our family. Our family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Joel Gingrich, Dr. Ahmed and Marie of CancerCare Manitoba along with all the Palliative Care nurses. A special thank-you to Margaret, Margie and Gwen for their support and care for Mum and our family. Thanks to all who came to visit, sent cards and called to let her know how much she was loved. A celebration of Brenda's life will be held on Tuesday, November 15 at 1:30 p.m. at Gordon King Memorial United Church, 127 Cobourg Avenue with the Rev. Canon Richard Condo officiating, assisted by the Ven. Godfrey Mawejje. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Almost 8 yrs since, Mom, since we parted. Am still blessed by the number of times I think of you. You were "always there" and still are -- in my thoughts and heart. Love Sue. (The most difficult of the 3 to raise)😊 - Posted by: Susan Suppes (Daughter) on: Oct 13, 2019

  • Dear Bernie, Barb, Susan and Sharon. My deepest sympathies to you all. May your Mom be at the Caddy Lake in the heavens. Thinking of all the many fond memories of those that passed from the bay and thinking the gang will be having a few laughs as they gather again. Yatazee, Paul Malls and a few cocktails I am sure… In my thoughts and prayer Bruce - Posted by: Bruce Keats (Family) on: Nov 16, 2011
