JOSEPHINE ROWENA BUTLER (nee DEARLE) June 27, 1935 - November 3, 2011 It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Rowena. With her devoted husband by her side Rowena left us peacefully on Thursday, November 3, 2011, at the age of 76 years. Left to forever cherish Rowena's memory is her loving husband Norman Butler, of 58 years of marriage; daughter Linda (David) Craig of Cooks Creek, MB; sons Norman (Sheila) Butler of Edmond, OK and Ronald (Susan) Butler of Winnipeg, MB; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters Norah Davidson and Edna (Lorne) Sigurdson; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved son James Butler; parents Robert and May Dearle; brothers Robert and George Dearle, and sisters Louise Menzies, Elsie Kennedy and Doris de Roos. Rowena was born in McCreary, MB, moving to Madison Street, St. James, as a young girl with her family. She attended St. James Collegiate and went on to work in the offices of Eaton's. On August 1, 1953 she married Norman and they worked side-by-side as entrepreneurs and proprietors of Butler Bros. Garden Supplies and Butler's Storage Systems, while raising their four children on the farm on Saskatchewan Avenue. Rowena was well known for her gorgeous smile, positive attitude and her love for Norman, her family and her dear friends. She enjoyed her beautiful gardens and flowers, filling the freezer to the top with veggies and baking. Rowena could run like the wind, whistle for you so you could hear her in the back 100 acres, she could drive a tractor, deliver a calf, saddle a horse, and loved to drive her Lincoln. There was nothing too big for her to tackle, work through or overcome. A Memorial Tea for Rowena will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive. The family extends a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Riverview Health Care Facility for their wonderful care and kindness towards Rowena. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rowena's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Until we meet again.....We love you!
