Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD THOMAS JENKINS In the early hours of November 10, 2011, our beloved father, Donald Jenkins, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 84 years old. Dad was born and raised in St. James, the son of the late Donald Thomas and Minnie Jenkins. He was raised by his father after the death of his mother at an early age. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Phyllis. He is survived by his children, Donald (Linda) Jenkins Jr., Fay (Angus) Scott, James (Prudence) Jenkins, Deborah Sanders (Sheldon), and Jeffrey (Sharon) Jenkins, ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Dad was too young to serve in the Second World War, but worked for the railway when the troops were coming home. He went on to be a route driver for Red Rose Tea and Coffee, until he became a sales representative for Union Carbide Plastics. In 1971, he and his partner, Kazmir Kryschuk, formed Topsyn Flexible Packaging, where he worked until retirement. He enjoyed cottage life with his family. Dad loved sports and was always a competitor, especially at family volleyball games at the cottage. He also loved playing golf with his sons and friends, and sailing on Lake Winnipeg. In his later years he was known as the birdman of Assiniboine Park, often attracting a multitude of birds to feed from his outstretched hands. He volunteered at the Mennonite Central Committee and he especially loved reading his Bible, singing in the church choir, or wherever the opportunity arose! For the last years of his life he lived in Boulton Bay Seniors Community, where he made special friends with staff and residents; he enjoyed the community life immensely. We wish we had more time with you, Dad. You will be dearly missed. Viewing will be held Wednesday, November 16 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home. Memorial service will take place on Thursday, November 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Assiniboine Park.
