DAVID JACOB MARTENS 1928 - 2011 Peacefully on Friday, November 11, 2011, our father passed away to be with his Lord and Saviour, at age 83. David will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Marguerite, his four children, Kurt (Marie), Reid (Deb), Jeff (Jackie) and Sandy (Jerry) as well as his grandchildren, Raymond, Albert, Marlene, Calvin, Jamie, Stacey, Caitlin, Jasmine and Robert.Dad was born in Manitou, MB on August 13, 1928 and he married the love of his life, Marguerite on October 24, 1959. They raised their four children on a poultry farm near Oak Bluff, MB. They retired to Kelowna, BC in 1990. Dad was always light-hearted and fun to be around, joking, laughing and always singing or whistling a happy song. His positive attitude and constant encouragement were a blessing and he always saw the good in people. Dad's faith in Christ was solid and unwavering and he never missed an opportunity to speak of his Lord. Dad loved to walk in the park, beside their condo with mom. He would walk rain or shine, even up to the day before he was admitted to hospital. He spent many hours volunteering at various missions helping out the less fortunate. Our family would like to sincerely thank the doctors and nurses at Kelowna General Hospital for their compassion and care. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 12:00 p.m., at First Nations Community Church, 44 Tentler St., Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Focus on the Family at www.focusonthefamily.ca.
