ANNA VOGL KRULL Anna Vogl Krull passed away in Verdun Hospital, Montreal, PQ on October 25, 2011. Born in Munich, Germany on September 1, 1920, Mrs. Krull was an actress as a young woman, survived the Second World War in Germany, and for a short period lived with her husband and son in a displaced persons camp in Hamburg, Germany. She immigrated to Canada in 1955 and lived in Winnipeg until 2009. She obtained degrees from the University of Winnipeg and the University of Manitoba. She worked at Selkirk Hospital as a psychologist for over 30 years. Mrs. Krull was an avid traveller, visiting almost all of the globe, with only Antarctica eluding her. She loved the arts, regularly attending orchestra, opera and ballet performances. She was predeceased by her husband, Arkadius Krull, the third director/conductor of the Estonian Symphony orchestra and a professor of music at Tartu University in Estonia. Mr. Krull was an organist and choir leader for several religious organizations in Winnipeg, as well as a pianist for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Mrs. Krull is survived by son, Robert Krull, a graduate of the University of Michigan and of the University of Wisconsin, and a professor of communication retired from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York. Dr. Krull's wife, Ann Krull, is retired Director of the Bureau of Benefits and Health Insurance for the New York State Office for the Aging. Mrs. Krull's granddaughter Jessica Krull, a graduate of Northwestern University and Loyala of Chicago, lives with her husband, Jaimy Juliano, in suburban Chicago. Granddaughter Rachel Schumacher, a graduate of Brown University and the University of Chicago, lives with her husband, Jason Tulley, in Washington, DC. Their sons Zachary (six) and Noah (three) have no university degrees yet. Mrs. Krull would expect that to be corrected as soon as feasible.

  • Sorry I didn't get back to you after that lovely picture of you and your family in Estonia. I feel very connected to your parents, first to Arkadi, who was my opera coach. We had so many laughs. Later when Anna finished her degrees, we went to the opera and ballet together as well as the U of Wpg. where we sat through many lectures together. I'd like to hear from you, My sincere condolences to you and your family. The obit was great.
