DEIRDRE BAYES It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Deirdre on Friday, November 11, 2011, with her family by her side. She passed away at Riverview Health Centre at the young age of 63 years, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Deirdre is survived by her loving husband, Bob; daughter, Rebecca; son, Michael (Kim), and grandchildren, Lacey and Max. She also leaves to mourn her sister Lorraine West (Rick); sisters-in-law, Marcie Foster and Kathy Cairney (Bill); brother-in-law, George (Dianne); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and good friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Ed and Helen Foster, brother Murray, and sister Donna. Deirdre was born in Selkirk and grew up on the family farm in Petersfield, MB. Growing up on the farm there were many good times shared with her family, aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends of the Sutherland family. Upon graduating high school, she attended teachers college at the University of Manitoba and began her teaching career in the Seven Oaks School Division. While living in Winnipeg, Deirdre met the love of her life, Bob, and on May 15, 1971, they were married, and moved to Duncan, BC. While there they were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Becky. After residing in Ottawa for a short period of time, they returned to Minnedosa, MB, and shortly there afterwards welcomed their wonderful son Mike. In 1979, the family moved to Neepawa where Bob operated the family business. After several years sharing her life with her children as a stay-at-home mom, Deirdre earned her real estate brokers license and had a very successful career selling real estate. In 1989, the family returned to Winnipeg where Deirdre continued her real estate career for a few years. She returned to her teaching career after realizing her passion was teaching small children. In 2009, Deirdre was blessed with the birth of her first grandchild, Lacey, who provided her with countless hours of joy. Deirdre enjoyed sports, travel, her dogs, family gatherings and she was a good friend to all who knew her. Thank you Mom, for all the joy and happiness you have brought to our lives. We will miss your love, your laughter, your counsel, and your strength. The family wishes to thank all the doctors and nurses at CancerCare Manitoba, Health Sciences Centre, and Riverview Health Centre who helped Deirdre throughout her illness. A special thank you is extended on behalf of the family to Dr. Ade, Dr. Tim Hiebert, and Dr. Jillian Decosse. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 17 2:00 p.m. at St. Chad Anglican Church, 3390 Portage Ave., with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Deirdre's name to CancerCare Manitoba at 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9. To my family and friends Remember me in your hearts, your thoughts, and your memories. All the times we loved, the times we cried, and the times we laughed.
