Born: Mar 10, 1948
Date of Passing: Nov 10, 2011
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHENRI - ALLEN THOMAS JOSEPH MAJOR Henri left us suddenly, while hunting in the Duck Mountains. He collapsed early on November 10, 2011, Thursday morning before dawn. During the week while he was planning this trip, he spoke often of his love for his family and how happy and fulfilled he was with all things in his life. We are all so deeply saddened with our loss. Left to forever cherish Henri's memory are his loving wife Anita; children, Darian (Tani, Liam and Kiera), Matthew (Jane, Dylan and Landon), Jessica (Chris); his mother Georgette; siblings, Adele, John, Yvonne, Denise and Ron; sisters and brothers-in-law: Lenore, Michele (Bob), Valdine (Rick), Greg (Linda), Lisa (Armand) and Rod (Jody). He was predeceased by his father Stanley in 1982. Henri was born March 10, 1948 and grew up in Snow Lake, MB. It was during these years that he developed a love for the outdoors. He, along with his brother John, learned to enjoy all the wonderful things around them, but especially hunting and fishing. These activities became woven into the fabric of Henri's life and it gave him tremendous joy to share it with his children, grandchildren, relatives and friends. Every year he began his plans for the next anticipated adventure in the outdoors - he never missed a season. Henri had a very passionate nature which became apparent with his many personal accomplishments. He loved marathon running and completed 40 full marathons to date. He spent many years coaching/managing hockey and soccer teams in St. James. He felt all children should have the opportunity to participate and develop through sport. Henri loved to curl - the Deer Lodge and Victoria were special places for him and his teammates. Fernie, BC and the mountains drew him back time after time to ski and to climb. As a public servant, Henri devoted 30 years of service with the Province of MB, Taxation Division and more recently with the MB Floodway Authority. He enjoyed all aspects of his work, bringing his positive nature and perspective to all the challenges he faced. Henri had great respect and regard for all his colleagues. But Henri's first love was his family - his children and grandchildren were the biggest rewards in his life. They were always part of the daily conversation and activity planning for the week. He was the centre of the family and showed us the way. Henri's humour, humility and true love of life made him someone you loved to spend time with. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2011 in Blessed John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, 3390 Portage Avenue @ Rouge Road, with Rev. Fr. Gerry Langevin, presiding. A very special thank you is extended to those involved in the difficult hours on Thursday: to Ryan, Chris and the Bielik family. We are forever in your debt for loving and caring for him. If you wish, a donation in Henri's memory can be made to Fort Whyte Alive Nature Centre, 1961 McCreary Road, Winnipeg, MB R3P 0S8.
