Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNE-MARIE SCHAFER July 2, 1937 November 13, 2011 In sadness, the family of Anne Marie Schafer (nee Hummel) announce that we lost our beloved wife, mother, Oma, and sister on November 13, 2011 at the Selkirk General Hospital after a lengthy illness. Anne and Nicholas Schafer (Nick) first met in April of 1953 and were married in 1957. They raised their family of four children in Selkirk, Manitoba, eventually retiring back to the family homestead in Little Britain, MB near Lockport. Their loving partnership extended over 58 special years. Anne's children, Terry Campbell (Neil) of Calgary, Eric (Marilyn) of Lockport, David (Christine) of Carberry, and Robert of Winnipeg, together with grandchildren Karl and Cameron Schafer, Paul Campbell, and great- granddaughter Kaylayna, will forever miss their Mother and Oma. Anne was predeceased by her parents Alfred and Mina Hummel who homesteaded and raised their family in Little Britain, MB. She is survived by her husband Nicholas, children, grandchildren, great granddaughter, and her siblings Edith Walker, Elfrida Jeppesen, Gertrude Didick, Albert Hummel and Cecelia Sullivan. Anne grew up in the close knit community of Little Britain, amongst families who settled in the area from Germany in 1927. She attended St. Charles Boarding School for girls for seven years along with some of her sisters and friends from the Little Britain area, completing high school in Selkirk. Anne was an active member in the Little Britain community for many years. Anne joined Nick in retirement in 1999, after 15 years of managing the CGS Manor Seniors complex on Mountain Avenue in Winnipeg. The family would like to thank all of the ICU staff at the Selkirk and District Hospital for their kindness and special care provided to Mother during her final hours with us. A special thank you goes out to Bonny. Funeral mass and interment will be held at the St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church, located in Little Britain, MB on Thursday, November 17 at 10:00 a.m. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
