RONALD FINNSSON August 29, 1941 - November 8, 2011 Surrounded by the love of his family, Ronnie passed away at the age of 70 years, at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gudrun, his parents Asgeir and Ruth, his children Kim (Reg), Kelvin (Gerrey), Kelly (Kris). He has also left his pride and joy - his grandchildren Amanda (Duncan), Melissa, Desiree (Tyler), Codey (Kendra), great-grandchildren Emilee, Morgan, Keely, Kylee, Kurt and Kalyn. Also left to cherish his memory are his sisters Lolly (Roger), Bernice (Murray), Linda (Kris), Sherri (Terry), Glenda (Ronnie), his brothers Leonard (Christine), Colin (Karen), brothers-in-law Jon (Evelyn) and Brinki (Carol) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and an enormous amount of great friends. Ronnie was predeceased by his parents-in-law Simon and Pearl Gudmundson and his granddaughter Jennalee Finnsson. Words cannot express the empty void that now fills our lives.Dad was so many things to us. His knowledge on his family history as well as his in-laws was invaluable. We needed no books as we had Dad. So many from all over have shared in his joy of horses. Every year he found time in the winter to take anyone who wished for his famous sleigh rides with his team of horses. He was always looking for something new to add to his sleigh rides. This year when we hear the jingling of those new bells, we will know you are with us. He loved his farm. He always said he would be on his farm until the day he died and he was lucky to never have to leave it. His favourite tractors were all nicely lined up and clean every year. He was a John Deere man and even collected all the toy John Deere tractors. He was devoted to all these things, but his devotion to his family was second to none. You never left his house without first hearing some story about what one of his grandchildren had done or something that one of his own children had done when they were young. Dad always made time to stop for a coffee with a friend and for sure share a good joke. Rest in Peace! We love you and will miss you forever! The family wishes extend their heartfelt thanks to the Arborg Paramedics who first responded, the Helicopter Air Ambulance, staff at the Health Sciences Centre, you all made Dad as comfortable as he could be. Also a big thank you to Fisher Funeral Home for your care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, please take a friend for coffee, enjoy a good joke and lend a helping hand. Graveside service will take place in May of 2012. MISS ME - BUT LET ME GO When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom-filled room Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little - but not too long And not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared Miss me - but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take And each must go alone. It's all a part of the Master's plan A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick of heart Go to the friends we know And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss Me - But Let Me Go! FISHER FUNERAL HOME INC. In care of arrangements.
