Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH LLOYD HURST Lloyd passed away peacefully, with family at his side, on November 15, 2011 at the age of 85 years. Lloyd is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruth and sons, Rick (Donna), Mike (Andrea), grandchildren, Jennifer, Derek, Jayson, Devon, great-granddaughter Makayla, sister Eileen nephews Murray, Dale (Elaine) and numerous cousins and friends. Lloyd was born in Snowflake, MB, January 24, 1926, growing up he enjoyed hockey, baseball and curling and continued playing until he turned to coaching. Lloyd was active in the community, taking on positions as Secretary for the Sunday School, baseball and curling clubs, Legion and Snowflake Cemetery. Lloyd worked with his father in the post office/telephone office until he married Ruth in 1950. They continued working for MTS until 1962 when Lloyd was employed by Canada Customs until his retirement in 1985. In his retirement years, he enjoyed winter travel, woodworking and pursing his love of golf. Lloyd was especially proud of being inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006 as a member of the 1948 to 1952 Snowflake Baseball Club. Cremation has taken place and as per Lloyd's wishes a graveside service will take place, Saturday, November 19, at 1:00 p.m. at the Snowflake Cemetery. Lloyd's family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at Vista Park Lodge, for their care and compassion in making Lloyd's last days as comfortable as possible.
