NICK ZAMONSKY After a short but courageous battle with cancer, Nick Zamonsky has passed away at Neepawa Hospital on November 15, 2011. The funeral will take place on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Church, Neepawa, MB. Prayers will take place in St. Dominic's Church on Friday, November 18 at 7:00 p.m. Nick was predeceased by his loving wife Doreen, his sons Bob and Ken. He leaves behind his son John along with his children (grandkids) Nick, Arianna and Joshua, Nick also leaves behind many family and friends that he shared life with. Nick was born in October of 1934. He was born and raised in the Grandview area. Over the years Nick called home to many other areas in the province. He accumulated many friends and close relationships in his travels. His love for work saw him do many interesting jobs over his life time. He loved to talk and was never lost for a story or a conversation with anyone. His jobs and experiences took him from Winnipeg to Hodgson to Erickson and area. His final job had him retire and work in Neepawa. Nick started his career in Winnipeg doing all sorts of work to provide for his family. He was never scared of work and was willing to try anything. He had the gift to sell and one of his memorable experiences was making 1000s of candy apples to deliver and sell around Winnipeg early in his life. His children and wife would help stabbing sticks into apples and getting them ready. Nick had a dream and desire to open a restaurant and moved his family up to Hodgson MB. There he opened his restaurant called the Bantam Roost. Nick was proud of his accomplishment and enjoyed his time cooking for everyone. There he made many friends. He still has many friends that are still there and his close friends Frank and Anne Skibinski shared many good times. Nick decided to try his hand at farming and moved to the Erickson area. His idea of farming had him accumulate many interesting animals. For those who knew Nick he loved to add to his collection. Nick also went back to running restaurants in Minnedosa and Erickson. Nick and his sons then got into a wholesale meat business. His travels took him across the west side of the province to have him do his sales. In his travels he met his close friends Pat and Jack Graham. Nick and Doreen had many great moments over the years sharing them with Pat and Jack. His final job until his final days was working as the chicken guy. He spent his days doing deliveries for Chicken Delight in Neepawa. Nick couldn't sit still. To all his friends and family that supported him in his ventures he was very grateful. He always was so proud and determined at what he did. Thank you to all those who helped Nick over the years. Thank you to Neepawa Hospital for caring for Nick in his final days. Thank you to Pat, Jack, Kat, Karen and all the other people who went out of their ways to make Nick's final days comfortable.
