PATRICIA DUBE We are deeply saddened to announce that on Thursday, November 10, 2011, Patricia Dubé peacefully passed away at the Health Sciences Centre. Patricia was born on September 25, 1946 at St. Boniface Hospital. She is predeceased by her parents, Herménégilde and Elizabeth (Girouard) Dubé and a few close friends. Patricia is survived by her husband Steve Pawlychyn; her children: Natalie Lukowycz and Stéphane Lukowycz; their father Jean-Pierre Lukowycz; stepchildren: Rudi (Shauna) Pawlychyn and Zoya (Daniel) Martin; grandchildren: Jacob Hinderks, Liam Hinderks and Luka Pawlychyn. She has left siblings Albert (Carmel) Dubé, Gérald (Jeannette) Dubé and Joanne (Marcel) Gaborieau, as well as seven nieces and 14 great-nieces and nephews. As a child Patricia was active in her church, Girl Guides, and other community groups. Memorable parts of her childhood were the wonderful summers spent at the family cottage in Redditt, Ontario. Patricia completed her education at St. Boniface College and the Faculty of Education, University of Manitoba. Patricia enjoyed the years she spent as a teacher. She began her career in Assiniboia School Division in 1968, and resumed teaching in 1991 at Guyot School and retired from St. Boniface School Division in 2001. Patricia married Jean-Pierre Lukowycz in 1968. They were blessed with the birth of two children - Natalie and Stéphane. In 1974, the family moved to Aylmer, Quebec, where they remained for many years. In 1991, Patricia returned to Winnipeg where she resumed her teaching career and rekindled her involvement in the French Canadian community. In 1997 she was diagnosed with and treated for a brain tumor. In 1999, she married Steve Pawlychyn. Throughout the beginning part of their marriage, they enjoyed travelling and camping. During the last part of Patricia's life she was an active member in Holy Family Church, serving on the Parish Council, helping with Christmas Hamper Drives, teaching Catechism and singing in the choir. In addition, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and the French Choir Les Blés au Vent . Patricia found much pleasure and happiness helping others and being involved in the community, but her true passion was her family both close and extended. Patricia will be missed by all whose lives she has touched. In lieu of flowers, donations to the following organization would be appreciated: CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Avenue, Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or to L'Arche Winnipeg, 118 Regent Avenue E., Winnipeg, MB R2C 0C1. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald St. Private family interment will follow at a later date.
