This came as a shock to her family and friends, who had just celebrated her 80th birthday with her four days prior; more birthday lunches and celebrations were to follow. She led a life of incredible achievement, touching many lives with her compassion and her caring manner. She had an amazing attitude towards life, embracing it with relish. Maxine lived life to the fullest. She loved deeply, especially her family. Maxine was guided by AMS (Afraid of Missing Something), she would not miss any event or gathering. She filled every day with activities: cycling, cross-country skiing, travelling and enjoying the arts. Maxine was an inspiration to all who knew her, deeply touching all our lives. She had many and varied circles of friends, from her lifelong friends, her former work colleagues, to her more recent friends including the Grand Canyon Girls, the Leisure Cycling Group, Nature Manitoba (Grey Hares) and the Charleswood Ski Club. She is survived by her partner, Harvey Fairman, daughter Karen Solomon (Jon) and grandchildren Jonathon and Micaela; son Peter Geller (Pam) and grandchildren Alexander and Philip; brother Mark Doctoroff (Francoise); sister Linda Doctoroff; many nieces and nephews and extended family Gord and John Fairman and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Manly and daughter Wendy. Maxine's funeral was held on Friday, November 18 at Temple Shalom.
