DAVID E. SMITH It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dave Smith on Monday, November 14, 2011, at the age of 76 years. Dave was predeceased by his son Brian. Left to mourn his loss are his loving wife, Karen Gelowitz; sons, Garry (Colleen) Smith and Doug Smith; daughters, Jennifer Gelowitz and Stephanie Smith. Also left to mourn are sisters, Diane (Kent) Taylor and Daphne (Tino) Ethans; grandson, Robert; and granddaughter, Breanne, as well as many nieces and nephews. Dave was born November 3, 1935, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and later moved to Edmonton, and then Regina. In 2003, he moved to Victoria to retire. Dave worked as an architect for most of his life, and in his spare time enjoyed sailing and golfing. He had a great love for life and lived it to its fullest, including being an enthusiastic fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Vancouver Canucks. A family gathering will be held at a later date. If friends so desire, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of their choice. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria.
