Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERMAINE RENEE MARTIN February 8, 1926 - November 16, 2011 Peacefully on Wednesday morning November 16, 2011, Germaine went home to be with her Lord and Saviour. Germaine is predeceased by her parents, who came to Canada from France, Germain and France Martin (Gautier) of Hodgson, MB; her brothers Peter, Simon, John of Winnipeg; sister Yvonne of Winnipeg, sister Jacqueline and husband Leonard Hartog of Hodgson, MB, two infant sisters, and niece Darlene Hartog of Hodgson, MB. Germaine is survived by her sisters Louise (John) Braun of Winnipeg, Suzanne Thomas of Winnipeg, Marie (Willie) Braun of Carman, MB and Denise (Bill) Rosche of Winnipeg; sisters-in-law Katie Martin and Vi Martin both of Winnipeg, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Family was a very important part of her life and she enjoyed many get-togethers and celebration with them. She was born in Fisher Branch and grew up on a farm east of Hodgson in the Lee Lake district. She moved to Winnipeg with her brother John in the early 1970s where they both resided with their sister Yvonne. As Germaine's biological family was important to her, so was her church family at Calvary Temple. She would knit mittens, scarves and wool squares for blankets. She would bake cookies and buns for Calvary Temple Youth camp. She enjoyed to do the things she could for others. Just before the Christmas of 2007, Germaine became a resident of Calvary Place. She was very happy there. She enjoyed bingo, bowling, and other activities provided at the care home. Many a day would go by that she'd be heard singing Oh Happy Day in French and English as well as Frère Jacques . After singing she would smile and be her sweet, pleasant self. Germaine will be remembered for her sweet, serene smile and the twinkle in her eye. Special thanks for the loving care and attention she received from the nurses and staff of Calvary Place Personal Care Home. We thank you for the excellent care given to Germaine as well as us, the family. The family wishes to thank our family and friends who have supported us with encouraging phone calls and prayers. God Bless you! Funeral Service Monday, November 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., at the Calvary Temple Buntain Chapel.
