Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAURA VIVIAN ESSELMONT With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mom and grandma, Laura Vivian Esselmont, on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Grace Hospital with her granddaughter by her side. Laura was predeceased by Roy, her beloved husband of 62 years, last April. She is lovingly remembered by her son and daughter-in-law Greg and Gail Esselmont of Winnipeg, granddaughters Erica Esselmont of Winnipeg and Heather Esselmont and husband Andrew Johnson of Shanghai, China, sister Belva Walker of Victoria, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Laura was born on December 15, 1920 and raised in Kisbey, Saskatchewan. Laura graduated from the General Hospital School of Nursing becoming a registered nurse. She later furthered her education by obtaining her Bachelor of Nursing degree. Then Laura worked in Public Health for 15 years before her retirement. The essence of Laura was her caring and concern for others. To her last days, she always put others before herself. She loved her granddaughters dearly. Laura was a longtime member of McClure United Church and served as president of the UCW. She enjoyed curling as a member of the Thistle Curling Club and TV spectator. In later years, she was an avid bridge player. The cottage at Falcon Lake that she and Roy built is a lasting legacy to the family. It was her favourite place which she was able to enjoy, even this last summer. Laura's intelligence, wit, humour and kindness shone through in every aspect of her life. She was a wonderful lady and we will miss her very much. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at McClure United Church, 533 Greenwood Place, with lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MS Society, Manitoba; 100 - 1465 Buffalo Place; Winnipeg, MB, R3T 1L8 or a charity of one's choice. Cremation has taken place.
