MARIA ZEDDA (MASCI) It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Maria Zedda on November 20, 2011. Maria was born in Sassoferrato, Italy on August 15, 1928. She was predeceased by her loving husband Giovanni in 2000, and brother Francesco Masci in 2001. She is survived by her loving son Claudio and daughter-in-law Armida (Vacchio), her sister Sandra Calvani, sister-in-law Anna Masci of Italy, as well as brother-in-law Luigi Zedda (Caterina) of Vancouver, BC. She will be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews, and friends. Maria immigrated to Winnipeg from Rome, Italy along with her husband and young son in April 1967. She was a devoted wife and mother. Over the years Maria enjoyed caring for her family, cooking, music, singing, reading and watching the Italian TV channel. She enjoyed her many return trips to Italy to be able to visit with family and friends. Upon the death of her husband, Maria spent the last 11 years living at Villa Nova Senior Retirement Home where she enjoyed socializing and the company of her many friends. Mom we love you and you will be greatly missed. Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home with Fr. Garry Killen officiating. Interment to follow at Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley St. In lieu of flowers, donations in Maria's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
