FLORENCE EMILY MACDONALD Florence Emily Mac Donald (nee Marchant), beloved wife of the late Hugh Allan Mac Donald, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2011 at the age of 98 years, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. Florence was born in Winnipeg, graduated as the Brandon General Hospital's 1935 Gold Medalist in Nursing, and in 1937 (in Sudbury Ontario) she married Hugh. They moved to BC in 1939. In 1951 they found their way back to Winnipeg. Upon retirement, Florence and Hugh spent many winters as snowbirds at Quartzsite, AZ and their summers at their home near Woodridge, MB. Florence is survived by her four children: Jack (Ena) MacDonald, Allan (Valerie) MacDonald, Jean James, Heather (Doug) Drimes; and numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their gratitude for the warm loving care shown by the nurses, health care aids, and all staff at Concordia Place. We would especially like to thank Mom's friend and companion Pam, and her family. Pam worked tirelessly to give Mom the attention, and activities she so enjoyed. Immediate interment has taken place at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A memorial service, to celebrate her life, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 26, in the chapel at Concordia Place, 1000 Molson Ave., Winnipeg, MB. In remembrance of Florence, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10 - 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements, 775-2220.
