DODD FEAKES
Born: Aug 08, 1967
Date of Passing: Nov 16, 2011
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDODD FEAKES August 8, 1967 - November 16, 2011 It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Daniel Dodd on Wednesday, November 16, 2011. He is dearly loved and will be missed by his children Daniel and Rheanna; his parents Deanna and Dave; his brothers Dean (Karen), Dwayne (Charlene, Darian, Alexandra), and by the mother of his children Kim Kull. Dodd was born, raised and educated in Transcona. He was a happy, smiley kid who grew up living for his sports. He played hockey, soccer, football and baseball at the Maple Leaf Community Club. You seldom saw him without a hockey stick, soccer ball or baseball mitt. He often bragged about being the first 10 year old to be drafted into a 12 year old baseball team and winning the provincial title. As an adult, of course there was hockey, but he also enjoyed curling in the winter, playing baseball for Cubs and Mapes teams, golfing in the summer and riding his bike across and beyond Winnipeg with his friends. He enjoyed watching his son play hockey and watching his daughter sing and dance. Above all Dodd loved his two children. Dodd was a kind hearted person and would help anyone in need and ask no questions. If they needed help he was always there with a smile. He saw something good in everyone and you seldom heard him speak an unkind word about someone. He was employed by Dufresne Furniture until his stroke and ALS made it impossible to work. Heartfelt thanks go out to Sue Erickson, Home Care Coordinator and Diane Rasmussen from the ALS Society for taking our many calls and never making us feel like we couldn't phone them, for all the home supplies they provided and for their encouraging words. Thanks to the compassionate home care workers: Armando, Eva, Bella and Paul. Thanks to Uncle Don for helping remodel the bedroom so Dodd could come home - Dodd appreciated all you did for him. Honorary pallbearers Ray Waver, Jeff Wiersema, David Lowe, Paul Sciberras and Grant Weaver, whom we thank for caring so much about Dodd and being there for him. Funeral services will be held 2.00 p.m., Saturday, November 26 at Wheeler Funeral Home, 211 Regent Ave E., Transcona, 224-1525. A lunch will be served after the service at East End Community Club, 517 Pandora Ave. East. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, donations may be made to ALS Society, 493 Madison St., Winnipeg, MB R3J 1J2. Thumbs Up, Dodd

I know this is delayed, but I wanted to share a small something. I called Dodd....Doddiekins...why, I don't know but that's just the name I gave him. I went to school with Dodd and hung out with him, Paul, Jeff, Billy and everyone else. I can hear his laugh as if it was happening right now. I just wanted you all to know that memories do last a lifetime, and Dodd touched many people's lives. I'm sorry he left this world at such a young age. My heart goes out to his children and family, but know that he was a good guy, fun to be around and always had a smile. - Posted by: Sharon Vickner (old school chum) on: Nov 19, 2014

To The Feakes Family, Friends, and to My Friend Dodd, I was a close childhood friend to Dodd. We went to school together, right up to graduation.. We shared many great times together, which included going to each other's birthdays, and playing soccer for many years. I lived on Harvard Avenue West. I live in Toronto and travel a lot, and have lost track of everyone and anyone. I recently came back to visit Winnipeg and ran into a childhood teacher that mentioned this heartbreaking news to me. My sincere and deepest condolences to his family. I will miss him, but his memories will forever be with me. I will miss you Dodd, My Childhood Friend. I had the privilege of being Dodd's friend the past year and a half and having regular contact with him through this process. Through it all, I was always amazed at how his spirits always remained up. He had become an important friend and I looked forward to texting with him weekly. I had just had contact with him Tuesday and so was very sad to learn this. He was a good friend and I will miss him. - Posted by: Shannon West (Friend) on: Nov 25, 2011
