Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPARASKEVIA ZUBACH (nee CZOFUS) With the deepest sorrow we announce that on Wednesday, November 23, 2011, Paraskevia (Pearl) Zubach, age 88, passed away peacefully with her family at her side. She leaves to cherish her husband Michael (Dido), of 66 years; two sons, Roman (Olia), Brian (Nadia); five grandchildren, Larysa (Yuri), Katryna (Jonathan), Mark (Vanessa), Leyanna, Michael, and great-grandson, Liam. Baba was born on June 26, 1923 in Horohiv, Ukraine. As a young woman, during the Second World War, she was taken from her village in Ukraine to work in Germany as forced labour. During this period, she was transferred to Camp Lyssenko in Hanover, Germany where she met Dido and eventually married in October 1945. A few years later, their first child, Roman was born. In 1952, the family immigrated to Canada and then made their way by train to Winnipeg where they settled in the North End. Three years later their second son Brian was born. Baba took great joy in raising and guiding her children and grandchildren. Along with her husband, she instilled strong family values, eternal love and importance of the Ukrainian culture. She was an active member in the CYM organization and the Canadian Ukrainian Institute Prosvita. She was an amazing cook and always looked forward to having her family over for dinner. The family wishes to express its heartfelt thanks to the nurses and doctors at the Seven Oaks Hospital for the compassion and care they provided to Pearl. Special thanks to Dr. A. Babick and Dr. S. Kredentser for their heartfelt care. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 28 at St. Volodymyr and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor Street, Winnipeg with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Mitrat Michael Buyachok officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, and in remembrance of Pearl, donations may be made to the Holy Family Building Fund at 165 Aberdeen Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2W 1T9.
