Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY ANN AUSLAND Dorothy Ann Ausland (nee Venn) died peacefully after a long struggle with cancer on October 30, 2011. She was born on July 9, 1936, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Predeceased by her brother Kenneth, Dorothy is survived by her husband, Selmer, and her brother John (Beverly) Venn; her children, Stephen (Nessie), Carol (Timothy) Hicks, Eilef, and Erik (Marcia); her grandchildren, Coralee, Jeffrey, Kendra, Christian, Cambrie, Kaleb and Anastasia; and her great-grandchildren, Genessa and Jax. She will be sadly missed by many other relatives and friends. Dorothy grew up in Winnipeg and Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. She and Selmer were married in British Columbia, but lived most of their married life in Winnipeg, eventually moving to Barrie, Ontario, shortly after their retirement. Dorothy loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and one of her favourite pastimes was knitting them all types of clothing. She also enjoyed doing puzzles and taking drives with her family to the country. Cremation has taken place with a burial service to be held in Portage la Prairie planned in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Division of the Canadian Cancer Society located at 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 2B7.
