REUBEN (RUBY) SENENSKY It is with great sadness the family of Reuben Senensky announces his passing on Friday, November 18, 2011 at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 97. Lovingly remembered by children Bernie (Ahuva), Judy (Glen) and Susan, grandchildren Michael, Doron (Melanie), Cari (Kortney), Adam and Jenna (and Jenna's father Jerry), great-grandchildren Joshua, Caleb and Jordan and brother Sam. He is also remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews who all held a special place in Uncle Ruby's heart. Ruby was predeceased in 1994 by his beloved wife Shauna after 54 wonderful years of marriage. He was also predeceased by parents Dora and Benjamin, brothers Murray, Harry and Alex and son-in-law David. Ruby was born in Winnipeg on June 2, 1914. He served in the Canadian Air Force during the Second World War as a wireless technician and was a proud member of the General Monash Legion. He was employed for over 50 years at Kay's Ltd. working his way up from stock boy as a teenager to manager and was highly respected by his colleagues and customers for his integrity and work ethics. Ruby and Shauna married in 1940. They enjoyed an active social life skating, playing tennis, baseball, bowling and other sports with a large group who would remain lifelong friends. In later years Ruby enjoyed curling, golf and seniors baseball at Kildonan Park. He and Shauna enjoyed many wonderful trips together. When Shauna became ill, Ruby gave up his activities to give her his undivided time and attention as her devoted caregiver. He always made sure she was looked after with respect and dignity. After her death he gradually became active again, playing bridge at Gwen Secter and darts at the legion. He was a familiar sight at the mall enjoying good conversation and kibbitzing with friends. He drove to the age of 95 and would often drive seniors to and from activities to encourage them to participate. Ruby was a gentle, easy-going man with a great sense of humour. Children and animals alike were drawn to his funloving personality. He was generous by nature and took pleasure in making others feel good. He was a loving, supportive father and we will always remember his kindness and devotion to family. We will miss him dearly. The family would like to thank Dr. T. Fatoye and staff at KMC and staff on 5B Units 1, 2 and 3 for their care and compassion. Funeral services took place on Monday, November 21, 2011 at the Etz Chayim Synagogue with interment at Rosh Pina Memorial Park, officiated by Rabbi L. Lander. Pallbearers were Michael Palansky, Avrum Senensky, Josh Senensky, Tim Langdon, Jason Palansky and David Selch. If desired, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. We love you Dad. Rest in Peace.
