Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMILDRED (MILLIE) JEAN MAINER (nee MOORE) Millie passed away November 22, 2011 at Concordia Hospital after a lengthy battle with emphysema. Millie was born September 16, 1934 and grew up in the East Kildonan area of Winnipeg. In 1959 she married the love of her life, Kenneth Mainer. They celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary in 2007, the year Ken passed away. They had three children whom Millie loved dearly, Ken Jr., Trevor and Marla. She attended Tec Voc High School and graduated with a diploma in Pattern Making. Early in her life she worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway and Manitoba Telephone System. Millie and Ken were very active in the Masonic Family. Millie was initiated March 24, 1975 into Patricia Chapter #8. She then affiliated with Jephthah Chapter #22 November 15, 1985. She was Worthy Matron 1991 to 1992 with Bro. Paul Drewniak as her Worth Patron; 2000 to 2001 with Bro. Ken Mainer and 2001 to 2002 with Bro. Glen Ismond as her Worth Patron. Millie received her 25 Year Membership pin April 7, 2000. Millie had been Secretary/Treasurer for the Annie Dunn Transient Sick Visiting Committee for the past several years. Her work for the order of the Eastern Star was recognized when she was appointed Grand Representative to Tennessee 1995 to 1997. She served our Grand Chapter of Manitoba when she was appointed Grand Electa 1997 to 1998. Millie affiliated with Jubilee Chapter #27 May 19, 2006. Millie will be sadly missed by her sons Ken Jr. and Trevor; grandchildren Kenneth, Megan and Teddy. She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth; daughter Marla; her parents Isabelle and Wallace Moore; brother William, and sister Donna Daly. The family wish to thank the nurses at Concordia Hospital for the compassionate care Millie received. A celebration of Millie's life will take place Monday, November 28 at 2:00 p.m., at East Kildonan Masonic Temple, 205 Kimberly Street. As per Millie's wishes, an Eastern Star Memorial Service will be done by Jubilee Chapter #27. She will be missed by her Eastern Star friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation, Wish Upon a Star at 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 3J2.
