ERIC PATZER April 1, 1937 - November 27, 2011 Surrounded by his family, Eric Patzer passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Riverview Health Centre. Eric is survived by his beloved wife Trudy (Jacksteit), of 48 years. He will be greatly missed by his children Kevin (Leona), Dean (Erika), Mark (Andrea), Carla; grandchildren Anna-Maria, Katarina, Eliza and Ella; his sisters Irene (Garvin) Schabert, Anne Morgan, Lydia (Alec) Betcher, Gladys Kaufman, and Evelyn (Ernest) Kruschel, and numerous nephews and nieces. Eric was predeceased by his parents Ida and Reinhold, and his brothers Gus, Sig and Art. Eric was born and raised in the farming community of Minitonas, MB. He always cherished his childhood memories of the farm though eventually settled in Winnipeg. His success as a salesman led him to launch Patzer Office Equipment with his wife by his side. Health issues eventually led him to sell the business to his son Kevin. Then last spring, after 36 years of operation, Patzer Office Equipment was purchased by Toshiba Canada. Eric's passions in life included sports, travelling, and people. With his gift of humour and outgoing personality, he embraced people with smiles, warm hugs and firm handshakes. Eric battled many illnesses over the last number of years. The family wishes to thank Bev, his Companion Care Giver, all members associated with Polo Park Bowling Club, The Refit Centre, Charleswood Adult Club and The Alzheimer Association who gave meaning and enjoyment to Eric's life. Eric will most be remembered for his unwavering Christian faith, eloquent prayers before family meals until his final months, forgiving and loving nature, adoration of his wife, Trudy, and family as well as unstoppable optimism. He never had an unkind word to say about anyone. No one who ever met Eric forgot him as people left feeling good about themselves. He never felt sorry for himself in spite of his challenges, only felt fortunate and blessed. Eric was keenly looking forward to meeting His Lord and Saviour and enjoying eternity with Him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society, The Gideon's or a charity of your choice. Funeral services will be held at Whyte Ridge Baptist Church at 201 Scurfield Blvd. on Thursday, December 1 at 10:30 a.m. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.
