BRIAN GLENN STARANCHUK 1943 - 2011 Brian left us suddenly on Thursday, November 24, 2011 with his partner Monique at his side. Remaining to cherish his memory is Monique, his son Todd, grandsons Travis and Cyril; sisters Rose Marie (Mike) Hinks, Joy Ann (Lawrence) Weselak, and Donna (Tom) Radford; sister-in-law Jackie (Tom) Simpson; brother-in-law Lloyd Wachal; many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Brian was predeceased by his dear wife Valerie on February 21, 2004, his infant brother Donnie in 1951, his dad Mike in 1992 and his mom Nellie in 1999. Brian was born on April 30, 1943 and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. On October 4, 1969 he married Valerie Wachal and they enjoyed 34 years together. Their son Todd was born in 1970. Brian's passion was trucking which he passed down to his son and grandsons. Brian had a special relationship with his grandsons, Travis and Cyril, who spent countless hours with him. Brian made many friends in the trucking industry and he was very well known. Friends never hesitated to stop in for a visit. Brian was especially close to his Uncle Steve and cousins Albert and Alan. We will all miss Brian's sense of humour and many, many stories. Prayers will be said Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 7:00 p.m., at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 1:00 p.m., at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, 5819 Henderson Hwy. with Rev. Fr. Jerry Talarski presiding. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment to follow at the Ukrainian National Cemetery, Lorne Hill Road. Active pallbearers will be Travis Staranchuk, Neal Scheller, Brent Wachal, Curtis Lester, Harold Myslawchuk and Bob Lent. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Krakalovich, Albert Krakalovich, Alan Lakomski, Bill Andrews, Richard Powzun and Mike Leegsma. At this time the family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Concordia Hospital for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3L 0K6 or a charity of your choice, in Brian's memory.
