RODERICK SCOTT LEWANDOSKI Roderick Scott Lewandoski passed away suddenly on November 23, 2011. Scott was born February 23, 1967 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Scott spent most of his life in St. Vital, MB attending: Victor Mager, Minnetonka, Lavallee, Victor H. L. Wyatt Schools and Dakota Collegiate. During those years, at a very young age, Scott played hockey, baseball and soccer beginning at Greendell and later the Glenlee community club. Scott gave his all in these sports and loved every moment of the game and the fellowship with his peers. Many of these peers would become his lifelong friends. Scott was a member of Beavers and the Cub Scouts. He was involved with Judo and Tai-kwa-n-do, earning a black belt in each. Scott worked with his Dad, Rod, at Niakwa Shell Service on Archibald. He understood at an early age the importance of hard work. With determination and persistence, he did his very best at everything. In 1984, Scott chose to attend the Cooperative Vocational Education Program through the Dept. of Education. This class was the beginning of his career as an auto body technician. His practical work was done at Meyers Auto Body in St. Vital. John Meyers, owner, took him under his wing and Scott remained working for, and friends with John until John's passing. Scott worked as a technician and for a short time as Manager. In 2004, he joined the Murray Chevrolet - Hummer dealership where he remained until his passing. Scott's work ethic carried him through each day, gaining him the respect of co-workers and management. Scott restored many cars and won awards for his work at car shows which he loved. In 1996, Scott's son, David was born; he was the apple of his Dad's eye. In 1998, a beautiful daughter, Kaitlyn was born. Even though circumstances often kept them apart, Scott was a dedicated, loving father who wanted only the best for his children. Scott met the love of his life , Roberta in 2008, and he moved to Niverville. It was at this time that Scott took up hunting. Roberta's family openly embraced him. Her father was an excellent mentor as Scott fervently pursued the sport. So, from shooting gophers at Grandpa Swift's farm at the age of 10, Scott moved on to bigger game. He began hunting with his Dad who lives near the RMNP. They shared many wonderful experiences. Scott always loved the Christmas, Easter and Birthday celebrations spent at his grandparents. He loved skidooing, skiing, tobogganing, riding mini bikes, golfing, camping, fishing and spending time with his many cousins. He enjoyed his trips to Disneyland; Flin Flon, MB; Raymore, SK; Alberta and BC. He especially loved the fly-in fishing trips that he, his Dad and usually a friend would go on. He loved his Grandmas' cinnamon buns and his Mom's spareribs and chocolate chip cookies. Scott and his sister Cindy had the normal childhood squabbles, but as they grew older, the miles that separated them brought them closer. Visits and phone calls were extra special. Scott is survived by his children, David and Kaitlyn; his beloved Roberta and her family; his parents Rod and Evelyn; his sister Cindy; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and his many, many friends. Scott's work ethic, his honesty, his compassion, his loyalty, his smile, his love of nature, his love of children and especially his love for his family and friends are truly his legacy. A celebration of Scott's life was held on November 30 at Glen Lawn Funeral in Winnipeg. Scott's ashes will be scattered in many peaceful locations as per his request. Rest in peace, Scott. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I know this is from a long time ago, but I knew Scott as Scottie from Grandby Bay when I was a little girl. He played hockey with my older brother and Cindy babysat me once or twice. We lived across the street from him. I will always remember him as the cutest boy and my first crush I ever had on someone. He gave me the first gift I ever received from a boy. To this day I will always remember his sweet face and how nice and funny he was. I am so very sorry for your loss and apologize for this being late, as I realize he passed many years ago but I just recently looked up his name in the obits and send my condolences to all his loved ones. I just felt the need to say that, even to this day he will always be remembered fondly! R.I.P. Scottie, Shannon. - Posted by: shannon (friend) on: Aug 24, 2024
