EGILL BJORNSON It is with great sadness that we announce that our Dad and Afi, Egill Bjornson, passed away at his home on Friday, November 25, 2011 at the age of 84. Egill leaves to mourn his children Joe, Otto (Anja), Ingi (Cindy), Resi, Elke (Mark); grandchildren Micah, Fraser, Forrest, Kayla, Hayden and Lucas; sisters Rae and Maria; many cousins, extended family and friends. Egill was predeceased by his wife Lina, brothers Trygvie and Ingi and sisters Sella, Maggie and Pauline. Dad was born in Framnes (Arborg), MB on September 1, 1927 and grew up on the family farm. As a young man, Dad commercial fished on Lake Winnipeg. He later joined the Canadian Armed Forces where he met Mom while stationed in Germany. They were married on October 5, 1959 and together raised their family. Dad loved the outdoors, working until retirement in exploration in Flin Flon and other northern regions of Manitoba. Dad spent the last six years living in Gimli at Waterfront Centre. During that time, Dad enjoyed the company of his cousins and many old and new friends. In respect of Dad's wishes, a formal service will not be held. Friends and family are invited to join us at the Johnson Hall at Waterfront Centre in Gimli on Thursday, December 1, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. to come for coffee and remember Dad.
