IVAN WILLIAM MACKLIN With family at his side, Ivan William Macklin born December 26, 1936 in Glenora, MB went peacefully to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on November 29, 2011. Ivan grew up in Glenora, Graysville and Killarney. In 1954, he began working at the Royal Bank, where he worked for 11 years. In 1965, Ivan began a second career in the insurance industry, first in life insurance sales, and then expanding into general insurance. In addition to insurance, Ivan also worked in real estate sales for several years. In 1998, Ivan sold Glen Oak Insurance, but remained active in sales until his peaceful death at St. Boniface Hospital. Cherishing memories of Ivan are his wife Beverley, daughter Barbara Mauthe, son Darren (Shelley) Macklin, grandchildren Nicholas (Megan) Macklin, Patrick Macklin and Megan Macklin, great-grandson Benjamin Macklin, niece Kathy (Elroy) Karlowsky and nephew Mel (Helen) McElroy. Also Erna Emes, Bill (Erika) Emes, Ken (Toni) Emes, Diane Emes, Lorelei (Gerry) Harder, and Dave (Pat) Emes, nieces and nephews, Robert (girlfriend Robyn), Kaitlyn, Christopher, Derian, Wyatt, Alyssa, Matthew, Ken, Brittany and Sabrina, as well as many other family and friends. Ivan was predeceased by his parents Bill and Ellen (nee O'Dell) Macklin, sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Ken McElroy, and by Bev's dad, Robert Emes. Ivan had a great love for animals; he would put out seed for the birds and greens for the rabbits, watch the antics of birds and squirrels for hours and play with his own and neighbourhood dogs and cats. He travelled overseas with Bev and especially enjoyed the sites of Ireland, Scotland and Italy. Ivan loved to tease his family with his deadpan and ready wit and took pride in their accomplishments. For many years, Ivan was involved in the church council and Sunday School at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He especially enjoyed services that included Immanuel's choir. The family would like to thank the EMS paramedics and emergency room doctors and nurses at St. Boniface Hospital for their thoughtfulness and compassion during a difficult time. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2528 King Edward Street (just north of Inkster), Winnipeg; Pastor Richard Beinert officiating. Private interment will follow at a later date. Pallbearers are Nick Macklin, Pat Macklin, Elroy Karlowsky, Robert Emes, Ken Emes and Matthew Harder. Honourary pallbearers are his granddaughter and other nieces and nephews. Jesus said, I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.
