ANTONIA (TONI) SLANEY She was born on April 13, 1923 in Poplarfield, MB. Toni passed away unexpectedly on November 24, 2011 at the age of 88 at Vista Park Lodge where she had been living since June of this year. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph; parents, Anna and Gabriel; and three of her four siblings, Peter, Stella and Olga. She is survived by her brother Maurice; daughters, Valerie (Dale) Whitbread and Leslie Slaney; grandchildren, Michele LeCappellain (Gerry), Robert LeCappellain (Cheryl), Leanne Pickering (Stephen), Kerry Whitbread (Kate), Christine Whitbread (Gregg) and David Whitbread (Melissa), eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She married Joe on August 21, 1943. Her favourite pastimes were bingo, bowling, wood carving and gardening. She was an exceptional cook and her wonderful meals will be missed by many. Anyone who ever met her described her as a sweet and caring person but what will be really missed is the twinkle in her eye. Although she worked at several types of jobs, housekeeping, sewing and hairdressing, what truly defined her was her love of her family and her home. She was especially close to niece Wendy Rudick who has been such a support to the family during her illness. According to her wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. A family graveside service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.

  • Aunt Toni hosted Christmas eve dinners all througout our formative years. Her skill in the kitchen as well as her twinkling eyes are standout memories. Bye bye Toi, rest well. - Posted by: Timm Slaney (Nephew) on: Aug 08, 2012
