Born: Nov 06, 1926
Date of Passing: Nov 26, 2011
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN ZIMMERMAN It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our much loved husband, father and grandfather, John Zimmerman, on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the age of 85 years. Left to forever cherish John's memory are his wife Norma; daughter Donna (Maurice) Peak; son Dave (Laura) Zimmerman; daughter Linda Zimmerman; grandchildren Brittany, Tyrell, Keiran and Ayla; brother Frank (Diane) Zimmerman; sisters-in-law Kathleen Oliphant and Gwynne (Mike) Hayton; brother-in-law Brian Johnstone; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Theresa Zimmerman, and sister, Terry Oliver. On November 6, 1926 John was born in Veszprém, Hungary. At the age of two, he came with his family to Canada where they settled in Winnipeg. This is where he met his beloved wife of 58 years, Norma Johnstone. John was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and the Oriental Band of the Shriners; he loved riding horses, listening to country music and spending time in the outdoors. He will always be remembered by friends and family for his corny sense of humour and infectious smile. In compliance with John's wishes, there will be no Funeral Service. The family would like to thank Dena, Kelly and Elaine (and all the other hardworking staff) from the 5th floor of the Poseidon Care Centre for their support and assistance during a difficult year. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10 - 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
