Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY FAINSTEIN MANN September 16, 1933 - November 20, 2011 After a long and valiant battle with pancreatic cancer, Dorothy passed away on Sunday evening, November 20, 2011. Dorothy was born in Winnipeg, to the late Louis and Celia Fainstein, and was the youngest sister of the late Dr. Saul Fainstein, Harry Fain, Dr. Arnold Fainstein, and to her only living sibling, Esther Roman. She received her nursing degree from the University of Manitoba. After a 25 year nursing career, and raising a family in Los Angeles and New York, Dorothy moved to Toronto in 1977. She and her husband Bert retired to San Diego in 1986. During her long and fruitful life, Dorothy was involved in American Society for Technion, AIPAC, UJF, Words Alive, Casa De Ampara and Toastmasters. Dorothy leaves behind her beloved and devoted husband Bert, and two daughters from her first marriage, Cindy Davis and Sandra Shapira Kauffman. She also leaves behind her six stepchildren: Andrew Skurman, Paul Skurman, Dr. Gary Mann, Frankie Picasso, Andy Tu, Jay Tu, 12 grandchildren, nine nieces and one nephew. Her love and enthusiasm for life will never be forgotten. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and family. Services were held on Wednesday, November 23 at Temple Beth Israel in San Diego, CA.
